How Can Vietnamese Welding Wire Plants Prevent Drum Deformation in Heavy-Load Transport? – 250kg High-Strength Paper Drum Becomes the New Standard

Vietnam’s welding wire industry has accelerated its export pace in recent years, driven by downstream demand from automotive repair, steel fabrication, shipbuilding, and infrastructure projects. With rising output, packaging has become a key upgrade area. To improve container loading efficiency and reduce packaging cost per ton, many plants are shifting from traditional 100–150kg coils to large, heavy-load coils, pushing single-drum capacity beyond 200kg and increasingly adopting 250kg-class coils as a new export format.

However, under Vietnam’s typical high-humidity storage conditions, multi-layer stacking, and long-distance sea freight, conventional paper drums often reach their structural limits. Insufficient compressive strength leads to side-wall bulging and out-of-round drum mouths; higher stacking puts concentrated stress on bottom layers, raising the risk of local collapse; and continuous vibration plus frequent handling during export logistics can cause fatigue deformation. For welding wire—a product characterized by heavy loads, long turnover cycles, and high-frequency handling—drum stability is directly linked to storage safety and export risk control.

To address this common industrial challenge, many Vietnamese welding wire factories are upgrading to heavy-duty, high-strength paper drums designed specifically for large coils. The solution adopted here is our 250kg welding wire paper drum (51×80×29). By reinforcing the multi-layer drum wall, optimizing the fiber ring-support structure, and strengthening bottom load-bearing design, the drum delivers much higher ring crush strength, vertical stacking strength, and transport impact resistance, keeping the structure stable even at full load. In addition, welding wire drums must support not only transport but also workshop pay-off and shipment workflows. Therefore, standardized designs for drum mouth geometry, lid sealing, and accessory compatibility ensure smooth transitions from coil loading and sealing to storage and wire payout.

Looking at Vietnam’s export trend, larger coils + heavier loads + standardized high-strength paper drums are becoming a practical way to improve delivery efficiency and reduce overall logistics cost. The wider adoption of 250kg heavy-duty paper drums reflects a clear packaging upgrade—from “basic containment” to “stable heavy-load transport readiness”—supporting Vietnam’s welding wire products in reaching broader international markets with more reliable packaging performance.
